During the pandemic, I noticed something wonderful: some birds and insects I had never seen before started to show up in my neighborhood. Used as I was to gold finches, I was surprised when I spotted a black head on a yellow body. I found out later that it was a black-hooded finch. I thought then that even through such dramatic times, something good could still rise. Out of the unusual silence, life sprout.
